New Caledonia: A "historic" agreement signed with the independence movement on the future of the territory

The State and political forces of New Caledonia, meeting for ten days near Paris to try to chart an institutional future for the territory , signed an agreement on Saturday morning.
"A historic agreement has been signed," announced the non-independence Loyalists and the Rally. The details of this agreement, reached after a final night of negotiations in Bougival, Yvelines, where they had been meeting since July 2, are not yet known.
